Marty M. is born in Chicago. An early AA
member, she was founder of Nat'l. Comte. For Education on
Alcoholism, and author of A Primer on Alcoholism.

1939, July 14 - Blythewood
Sanitarium psychiatrist Harry M. Tiebout gives a Big Book to Marty
M. who promptly throws it at him.

1944, October 23 - Mrs. Marty Mann sheds her anonymity in a
two-column Time article "Help for Drunkards", that
included the photo on left.

founder of Nat'l. Comte. For Education about Alcoholism, dies.
